McNown’s Passion in Football
Cade McNown did create a fuzz all over Chicago after being drafted into the side from the college level, as a debutant in 1999 NFL, he more or less made use of all the opportunities that he got on the field. Having had a marginal taste of what it is like to be a NFL player, he was well received by his coach who seemed to have a strong sense of confidence in him.
Though McNown played behind a line where there were not more than two starters at a time, the first two series didn’t see much success of McNown which also included a 9-yard loss and a pass being smacked back at him. Despite not having a strong show out there in the middle, the coach Jauron kept having faith in him and chose to keep him in the side before loosening him up on his third series.
But immediately after two plays of a 14-yard gain, an interference penalty was awarded and McNown first NFL achievement saw him with a short pass to his partner Damon Washington who turned it into a 21-yard gain out in the backfield. McNown, after a twelve day contract and with six practice sessions at the training camp was looking forward to the night at Pittsburgh where he was not in the probable starting lineup but expected more time due to his recent performance. He still preferred to speak nothing but leave it up to the coaches as he was quoted saying that he enjoyed playing every minute of the game.
