It appears when one video is released on the web, the entire community is rocked. Thursday’s season opening loss hit Orgeon hard for 2 reasons. First off, the most obvious, they lost. Second , LaGarette Blount made a decision to “sucker punch” an affiliate of the away team. The latest sport celebrity “gets angry” video has hit the web crazily and has been dubbed the “Blount Punch Video”.

Don’t try this at home must definitely be related before we begin to inspect what the Oregon Duck player was up to. Pronouncing that he simply got angry is by far an understatement. I think we are safe to assert that he had a phsychotic flip out which was uncalled for. Because your team loses and your a sucky player doesn’t suggest that you’ve got the right to throw a fist at a member of the other team.

The young football player has seen himself postponed from play once this year and I am fairly confident he is setting the record for the worst fury management issues in United States football yet. As well as punchomg an opposing player he also closely missed a team buddy and charged towards the other team in the stands.

We lately had another performance of animal like behavior from a NFL player so this is the same sort of situation, only a few details changed. Sadly for LaGarette Blount this could be the beginning of his last season as an Oregon Duck player. According to EPSN he had to restrained by police after his ordeal.

Candian Football: The Grey Cup

The Grey Cup is the name of both the championship of the Canadian Football League and the name of the trophy (Cup)  that is awarded to the victorious team (The Grey Cup Winners). The Cup was donated in 1909 by the then Governor General of Canada, Lord Earl Grey. The cup was to be recognized to the top amateur rugby football team in Canada. At this time Canadian rugby had become extremely different from the rugby union football from which it originated. The Cup, over time, became the  property of the Canadian Football League, which is known as the CFL. The CFL had evolved and become a professional league that played Canadian football. The university football teams compete now for the Vanier Cup. Recent changes in the league have brought about the consideration of changing the name of the Grey cup to the name of the current years corporate sponsor. Traditionalists of the CFL have openly objected the idea, stating that the Canadian Football league should not trade a historical and national treasure for shore term leage profit. So far the cup hasn’t been renamed!

Unassuming Melbourne: Australian Football Heartland of Australia

As so often in Australia’s history, Melbourne was founded through deception when explorer John Batman, an Australian who spoke in several aboriginal languages, made a “deal” with aborigines to lease land on behalf of investors.

While offering the Aborigines any compensation at all was progressive in a colonial culture that preferred to simply run them off the land, the fact that the native people had little understanding of rents, leases or indeed, the concept that land was something to be bought, sold and leased at all, made his arrangements no less exploitative. In return for a long term lease of 240,000 hectares of the finest grazing land in Australia, Batman gave the aborigines axes, salt, flour, blankets and jewelry. The total value of the goods is estimated to be around 200 pound.

Colonial rulers later declared his leases unlawful, claiming that the government, not the Aborigines, were the true owners of the land. After paying Batman compensation, they took over the territory and founded a settlement as the seat of regional government. The settlement became the city of Melbourne in 1837, named after Viscount Melbourne, the British prime minister at the time.

A sensible town plan

Melbourne s location was its strongest suit. While the “acquired” farmland was of excellent quality, the city’s location on the banks of the Yarra River and well protected Port Phillip Bay contributed to its rapid commercial development.
